Silkworms raised on leaves are healthier, more robust and rarely have die offs often associated with chow. They grow faster, spin larger cocoons and lay more eggs. They can go without food for 5-7 days but will become dehydrated. If you don't have access to mulberry leaves, you may feed them entire dandelions, shredded carrots and grape leaves! (However, it is NOT expected that they grow large on these replacements and be careful picking dandelions on lawns. I spray my lawn with weed kill!)

These products will be shipped in a flat rate box with screened windows for better ventilation. Therefore, no bagged leaves can be included, but the silkworms do have food to eat during the trip. You may upgrade to crix box that comes with a bagged leaves securely taped to the side.

Silkworms are shipped with fresh mulberry leaves to eat during the trip, and will arrive at destination, clinging on to leftover veins. I find this makes the best cushion and don't cause humidity problems. Silkworms don't clump together and there is NO offensive odor that comes with the rotting chow, but instead, there is a pleasant, fresh cut grassy kind of smell that is very therapeutic. You should order at least one bag of fresh leaves to gutload your silkworms. They can become dehydrated during transit. To grow your silkworms even larger, you may wish to purchase additional bag of fresh leaves.
